FEBRUARY REGULAR CLUB MEETING
Special thanks to “JP” LeBlanc, VE9BK, for his informative January presentation describing features of the “Ham Radio Deluxe” control program. Having a large screen display facilitated easy viewing of details. Features of the program, to be installed to operate Club stations were reviewed and will soon be posted to an expanded “Club Stations” page of the MAARC Website. Our sincere appreciation is extended to “JP.”
February 14, 2010, is the Chinese New Year and also St. Valentine’s Day. Above all, don’t forget your “sweetheart” and remember that the next day is designated for a regular MAARC meeting. It is scheduled for 18:30L at the Club Rooms on Halifax Street. Storm date is next evening, February 16/10, 18:30L.
Following a brief business session, special guest presenter will be Bill Wallace, VE9WW. Bill will bring his impressive display of semi-automatic Morse keys better know as “Bugs.” The display includes the well know Vibroplex keys which are manufactured to this day by The Vibroplex Co., Inc. and its successor companies. Even if you are not proficient in Morse operating or have little interest in Morse code, the history of these keys and their mechanical design is intriguing. They were the mechanical forerunner of the present day electronic keyer.

CALLING ALL HAMS
|
 |
Fred LeBlanc, VE9UN, who has for many years facilitated applications for NB Call Sign Vehicle Plates, sends the following: "The province of NB unlike PEI, Ontario, Sask and a couple of others will not allow Callsigns to be placed on Veteran Plates, but am working on it, therefore should you be aware of any ex-military individuals who are Hams in the province, would you please pass the names on to me as I am compiling a list so that if I am successful with this project I will then be able to contact them and advise them what needs to be done to get their Callplates changed over to Veteran plates." MAARC Members are requested to assist Fred in this endeavor. He can be reached at: Fred LeBlanc, VE9UN 17 DeWitt Acres Fredericton NB E3A 6S3 (506) 472-3215 fredleb@nbnet.nb.ca |
