“This is VE9EMM, 2F, Maritimes – MAR”. MAARC members sent out this exchange 535 times this past weekend from our Field Day station which was located at the MAAR Clubhouse. The event was organized by Marcel, VE9ML who made sure that our two stations were properly networked and able to transmit in both voice and CW. At the end of the contest, Marcel will ensure that our score is submitted and hopefully we’ll get a 1st place showing. Due to rule changes, it was decided to enter the 2F category. This entry class has two radios and is located in an EOC using commercial power. The MAARC Clubhouse was the perfect location for this year’s event as it has been designated as the CARG EOC. The contesting software N1MM+ made logging very easy. In order to keep track of our progress with other Field Day stations, the Getscore website was actively monitored for real time scoring. An important aspect of Field Day is the ability to socialize, which has been impossible over the last two years due to COVID. Lots of very interesting discussions took place in the background while club members made contacts with stations all over Canada and the US. MAARC is lucky to have a clubhouse and it was gratifying to see so many amateurs supporting this important activity. It was exciting to see newly licensed amateurs taking part and getting on the air to make contacts on HF. Next year, there is a rumour that the MAARC Field Day will be at a new location, so stay tune for further updates as we get closer to next year’s event. Taking part, as based on who signed in, were JP, VE9BK, Lou, VE9LMN, Marcel, VE9ML, Kenny, VO1KJM, Glenn, VE9GK, Frank, VE9FD, Mike, VE9MWW, Ross, VE9GCS, Cliff, VE9CRK, Bob, VE9BOF, Misha, VE9GIS, Dave, VE9PTT, Don, VE9CUB, Nick, VE9NIC, Gord, VE1AJF, and Oscar, VE9OSK.
