Another climb by VE9GOM sees HF antenna replaced

7/28/2020

Jamie, VE9GOM took this picture this morning from the top of the tower. He was up there replacing the HF yagi with the A-4S four element Tri-band. If you look closely, on the right side of the picture you can see one of the traps of the Tri-band. While we give up 12 and 17 meters, we do pick up 3 db in gain on 10, 15 and 20 meters with this antenna and the square foot wind load is 1/2 that of the log periodic.

Little by little all the antennas at the clubhouse are being repaired. There is a working 80 meter dipole on the Kenwood in the back room. Still need to do some work on the 80 meter sloper and the vertical on the roof but we will get them done too. - Ross, VE9GCS

Thanks to Jamie, VE9GOM, Marcel, VE9ML, Gordie, VE9MM, Jim, VE9JRP, Oscar, VE9OSK , and Gilles, VE9NW.

VE9GOM makes the climb to remove antenna at the MAARC Clubhouse

7/14/2020

A big thanks to the work party at the clubhouse this morning. Jaime, VE9GOM climbed the tower and with help from Marcel, VE9ML and Gordie, VE9MM and Gilles, VE9NW was able to get the LogPeriodic yagi down.

While doing that, Team Oscar, VE9OSK and JP, VE9ADV built the 4 element Tri-band yagi only to find we are missing a 15 meter trap for one of the elements. With nothing to do until the missing trap arrives, we finished up around 1:30pm after a 10am start time and yes, it was a little on the warm/muggy side.

Thanks to all but especially to Jaime for climbing and doing the Lions share of the work 50 feet up in the air.
