Well Yvon, VE1VON did it again. He put together a meet and greet at the MAARC clubhouse with a presentation of amateur radio for those interested in being in the basic course beginning in January. There were 7 people in attendance and it was well received by all.
Thank you Yvon for giving your time and expertise and for setting this up. It is a great idea and it looks like the next basic course will have students who are motivated to get licensed and on the air. - Ross, VE9GCS Yvon (VE1VON) held a technical session yesterday for members to build a Bazooka Antenna. Basic theory and concepts were discussed. Members were then invited to build their own antenna and tune them in. A great time had by all. Thanks Yvon!
A QSL card from the club's first Secretary, Gorely Brown (VE1EV), originally sent in 1938 was purchased from a collector by Denis Guitard (VE9MUD). The card was framed and presented to MAARC on Oct 20, 2018 by Denis. The QSL card prominently displays what is now the club's official call sign: VE1EV and serves as a great testament to the rich history of Amateur Radio in the Moncton region.
The Codiac Amateur Radio Group (CARG) spent the morning at the Riverview Firehall interacting with the public during this years Fire Prevention Week. The public were presented with interactive demos of equipment, video presentations and first-hand discussion with local Amateur Radio Operators. Presenting this year were: (left to right) J.P. Leblanc (VE9BK), Oscar Leblanc (VE9OSK), Ross McCart (VE9GCS), Denis Guitard (VE9MUD), Jim Power (VE9JRP), Mike Noble (VE9NOM). |
