CARG Nets, Training and Events start up in October.

9/30/2019

The Codiac Amateur Radio Group (CARG) is once again inviting all Amateur Radio operators to join the group and take part in this years activities. Here's a few things happening this month and beyond.
  • The weekly CARG Message Handling and Voice Procedure Net begins this Tuesday, October 1st at 7PM. Listen in and see what it's all about. This net is held every Tuesday on the 880 repeater.
  • A province wide NB EMO exercise Brunswick Bravo will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd. The intent is to have our own communication exercise within Brunswick Bravo. CARG volunteers will be manning both amateur radio equipment in the various EOCs, and the NB TMR radio system when located in an EOC. For those of you who still have to work for a living and want to take part in this all day event, now is the time to make arrangements with your employer to take time off, vacation, etc. More details to follow.
  • The annual Pumpkin Patrol is set for October 31st in cooperation with the Codiac RCMP. Please note that for this event, you cannot decide at the last minute to show up and help. The time commitment for this event is from 4pm until 8pm. More details to follow.
  • CARG will also be conducting various training courses. These include Basic Emergency Management (BEM), the Amateur Radio Emergency Service Course (ARES) course, Message Handling and Voice Procedure (MH&VP) Course, etc. These courses don't take a great deal amount of time and are a great start for anyone interesting in getting started with CARG. More details to follow.
  • CARG will have a display set-up at the Riverview Fire Hall as part of Fire Prevention Week on Saturday, October 5th. Our main focus is to attract students for the MAARC Basic Amateur Radio Course. Do drop in and say hello. There is a pancake breakfast available starting at 8am, and we'll be there until 2pm. There are many interesting displays and lots of activities for children.

For more information, please visit the CARG web page on this site.
