Hi everyone, a little bit of news that came out of the Jan 21, 2023 MAARC meeting today.
The Shediac Bay Repeater VE9SBR is off the air until further notice. We were having week transmissions from the repeater transmitter and after investigation by Cam VE9CAM, Gord VE1AJF and myself VE9MTV we tested the coax and SWR and we got a reading of 3.9 SWR, so we decided to shut it down, until we can change the coax to 50 ohm hardline. Cam brought the VHF Transmitter home to test it, and everything is ok. We have to correct the high SWR before it will allow it back online. We don’t want to burn-up the transmitter. Hopefully in early spring. Very sorry for the inconvenience to everybody. THERE WILL BE NO FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH NET AND NO 2M USB SUNDAY NIGHT NET FROM THE VE9SBR REPEATER. THE 2M USB WILL TAKE PLACE ONLY WITH STATIONS CALLING DIRECT USING 2M SSB TRANSCEIVERS. After a few members request to allow linking the VE9TCR repeater for members with VHF only radios, a proposal was made to allow linking VE9TCR to the Westcumberland Club Wake-up Net from 07:30 to 08:30 Monday to Friday and also for the Westcumberland Monday Night Net from 20:00 to 21:00. The VE9TCR repeater will also be linked for the last Tuesday of the month Exercise Handshake NS, PEI and Southeastern NB. The vote was accepted by members present.
